This feature allows the inclusion of custom information on websites and social network pages to for instance advance the word on World Community Grid's existence, the humanitarian projects and the personal or team contributions thereto.

To generate a custom widget, go to My GridCreate Widget

For forum signature information see the FAQ: Updated Member Profile Info: Re: Adding Your Team To Your Signature

Limitations[]

The widget uses an HTML iframe to embed content directly from the World Community Grid website. This is more flexible than using a simple image, but is less complicated than a Vista Gadget or Web widget.

A version of the World Community Grid widget that uses a simple image has been requested, to allow the widget to be used on forums and in email signatures and other places where iframes are prohibited. Until this is available, the image from the widget can be used directly, using code similar to:

<div style="padding:3px;text-align:center;background-color:#FFFFFF;width:400;">
<a href="http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/widget/logoClick.do?page=index">
<img src="http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/images/logo_images/dyn_logo_1.jpg"
alt="World Community Grid Logo" border="0" /></a><br />
<a href="http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/widget/regClick.do?page=register"
style="font-family:Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;color:#339999;text-decoration:
underline;font-size:10px;font-weight:bold;">Join World Community Grid today!</a>
</div>

An alternate solution to displaying the WCG widget [on windows,] is using the Amnesty Gadget Generator. The description going with this tool is:

It was designed to work with Google Gadgets and put them on your Vista sidebar, but it works with W7 64 bit, and WCG widget code
Copy the code from WCG Widget and paste it into Amnesty.
In the WCG HTML you will see pixel sizes for WCG, put these also into the height and width boxes in Amnesty, give gadet a name and save. When calling up Windows gadgets you'll see ther new WCG gadget & 'atom' symbol, click and WCG widget will appear on your desktop.
